Our visitors to our seminar were very kind, and extremely informative about the town of Salem. One reflected on his past experiences, about how Salem use to be in the 1970's when he moved into Salem He gave us a lot of background of his life., and all his career changes. What I most got from him is how important others can be when you are in a situation, a new town. Those connections really helped him live his life the way he wanted to. As he was telling his story I kept thinking to myself what a small world it really is. It seemed as though everyone one he had ever met played such an enormous role in his life. I felt more relaxed as he went on, because I don't really know exactly what I would like to do with my major of psychology yet, but that's okay from what I heard life really can change in an instant. One day you could be doing one thing and the next you could be doing another. He gave me a sense of living and enjoying the moment with the good people that are around Salem.
Our second speaker in our seminar was a women she was much like the first speaker when it came to being very knowledgeable. I could tell from the first few seconds of her speaking that she enjoyed Salem, and the atmosphere that Salem offers for the people that visit here. The people who live in Salem, she wants to provide a good environment and fresh produce for people that go there. She helps run and coordinate many businesses and events in downtown Salem. She does a lot of work when Halloween draws near, which is a vital holiday to the town. She knows Salem has a vast history behind every corner. The main job she is tasked with is to balance the modern times with that vast history. It is very challenging, both speakers made a point that times are changing. For many people that presents a mixed bag of emotions. For a person such as myself, who loves history I see the dilemma they are faced with. at has not changed is the good people of this town. People in this town are nice. They support one another, and help each other find a place in this wonderful town
